Job Title
Senior Digital Design Engineer
Role Summary
Senior digital IC design engineer joining the High-Performance Mixed-Signal R&D team in Edinburgh. The role covers architecture, RTL design, verification and delivery of digital blocks and subsystems for mixed-signal SoCs on advanced process nodes.
Work closely with mixed-signal, DFT, and P&R teams to integrate IP, review quality, and support production bring-up and validation.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Years of experience not specified in the source posting.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design, verification and delivery of digital IP and subsystems within mixed-signal SoCs.
- Design and develop digital circuit architectures from concept through production, including block-level testbench development.
- Implement RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) for complex digital circuits and subsystems.
- Integrate IP into chip-level architectures and collaborate across teams to meet delivery targets.
- Contribute to technical reviews, ensure IP quality using checklists and design reviews.
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers to support team growth and technical capability.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, practical abilities, and professional traits expected for the role.
- Strong RTL design experience using Verilog/SystemVerilog for complex digital implementations.
- Understanding of digital system-level design: bus protocols, bus architecture, chip-level clock and reset architectures.
- Block-level verification experience and familiarity with verification best practices.
- Knowledge of synthesis and static timing analysis for digital circuits.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; able to work under urgency in a dynamic environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with UVM-based verification environments and scripting/automation of design tasks.
- Familiarity with AMBA, SPI, I2C protocols; board-level interfaces and silicon bring-up/debug.
- Experience with linting, CDC/RDC tools; collaboration with DFT and Place & Route teams.
- Clock-domain handling, power-gating/low-power techniques, and experience with ARM/RISC-V or memory controllers.
- DSP/MATLAB experience for signal processing tasks.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with a solid proven background in digital CMOS circuit design.
