Job Title

Senior DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Join AMD's AECG ASIC design organization to develop and implement Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Debug (DFD) features for complex SoC products. The role focuses on DFT/DFD architecture, RTL design and integration, tool and methodology development, and silicon bring-up support across global design teams.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires around 6+ years of DFT design, integration, ATPG and silicon debug experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include DFT/DFD design, verification, tooling and production support:

  • Define DFT/DFD architecture and methodology working with cross-functional, multi-location teams.
  • Perform DFT RTL design, integration, synthesis support, equivalency checking and timing constraint definition.
  • Verify DFx logic at RTL and gate-level simulations; debug using waveform and simulator tools.
  • Implement scan insertion, ATPG verification and test pattern generation, including scan compression techniques.
  • Develop CAD software, scripts and automation to support DFT construction in complex SoCs.
  • Support first-silicon bring-up, pattern debug, qualification and failure analysis for production engineering.
  • Write and maintain DFT documentation and design specifications.

Requirements

Required skills and technical experience (must-have vs. nice-to-have noted):

  • Must-have: Deep expertise in scan compression architecture, scan insertion and ATPG methodologies.
  • Must-have: Proven experience debugging RTL and gate-level simulations using Verilog simulators and waveform tools.
  • Must-have: Experience working with synthesis, equivalency checking and static timing analysis; able to resolve logic/timing issues with integration, synthesis and PD teams.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with UNIX/Linux and scripting (TCL, c-shell, Perl or similar).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with ATE, digital IC manufacturing test, on-chip test pattern compression, memory BIST/repair, logic BIST, power-gating, at-speed testing and SerDes/analog testing.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior experience providing silicon bring-up and debug support during first-silicon validation and qualification.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
