Senior DFT Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Senior DFT Engineer
Role Summary
As a Senior Design-for-Test (DFT) engineer within the ASICS Engineering team, you will define and implement DFT architectures for ASIC blocks and SoCs, perform ATPG and coverage analysis, and deliver testable, high-quality silicon. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to resolve timing and testability issues and to document DFT/IP deliverables.
Experience Level
Senior - the title indicates a senior-level role. The posting lists a minimum of 2+ years of ASIC/DFT experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define and implement DFT architectures and test strategies for blocks and SoCs.
- Perform scan insertion, ATPG generation, and coverage analysis (including transition delay coverage).
- Define test-mode timing constraints and diagnose/implement timing fixes for timing violations.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for DFT flows (Perl, shell, or similar).
- Simulate and validate test vectors; perform equivalence checks and DFT DRC verification.
- Use DFT/ATPG tools and integrate results into RTL/physical verification flows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, support multiple concurrent designs, and document DFT/IP deliverables.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills.
- Must-have: 2+ years of ASIC/DFT hands-on experience.
- In-depth knowledge of DFT concepts, scan insertion, ATPG, and coverage analysis.
- Expertise in defining test-mode timing constraints and providing corrective actions for timing violations.
- Experience simulating test vectors and performing equivalence checks; familiarity with DFT DRC rules and RTL linting for DFT issues.
- Proficiency in scripting (Perl, shell) to automate flows and analyses.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to multitask across high-priority designs, and effective communication and teamwork skills in English.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Synopsys TetraMax/DFTMax and Cadence Encounter Test.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field (e.g., B.E./B.Tech/BS) is listed as the minimum educational requirement.
