Senior DFT Engineer
Nordic SemiconductorJob Title
Senior DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Wi‑Fi SoC Group to implement and verify Design for Testability (DFT) features across SoC designs. The role covers end-to-end DFT implementation, pattern generation and simulation, test-coverage analysis, and DFT sign-off for production silicon.
Position based in Bristol, reporting to the BU Wi‑Fi - SoC Group; occasional travel is expected.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting specifies a senior-level role.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include implementation, validation and verification of DFT features and ensuring testability of SoC designs.
- Develop and apply DFT strategies to improve test coverage and manufacturability.
- Implement and validate Memory BIST (MBIST) and run extensive simulations.
- Insert and validate Embedded Deterministic Test (EDT) and On-Chip Clocking (OCC) methodologies.
- Insert and validate scan chains and iJTAG (internal JTAG) infrastructure.
- Generate automatic test patterns (ATPG) and perform pattern simulations at RTL and netlist levels with and without timing backannotation.
- Analyze test coverage, identify gaps, and implement corrective measures.
- Prepare documentation, perform DFT sign-off activities and support cross-team reviews.
- Collaborate with digital design and verification teams to integrate DFT into the design flow.
Requirements
Key technical and interpersonal requirements. Items are split into must-have and nice-to-have.
Must-have
- Proven experience with DFT architecture and implementation, including MBIST, scan insertion, iJTAG, EDT, OCC, ATPG and pattern simulations.
- Experience with EDA IC design and verification tool flows and performing pattern simulations at RTL and netlist level.
- Scripting proficiency (Perl, Tcl, Python or similar) for automation and tool integration.
- Experience with Tessent or equivalent DFT tool suites.
- Strong documentation skills and effective verbal/written communication in English.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with Confluence and JIRA.
- Prior experience in Wi‑Fi SoC or complex digital SoC design flows.
Education Requirements
BSc or MSc in Electronics Engineering or a similar technical discipline is stated. Equivalent practical experience in DFT or digital IC verification is acceptable.
