Senior Development Engineer

Role Summary

The Senior Development Engineer develops, integrates, and tests systems and components for semiconductor metrology equipment. The role works on hardware, optics, and software integration within a product development team and supports release to manufacturing and customer deployment.

This position requires on-site presence at the primary factory and up to 30% international travel for field support.

Experience Level

Senior - typically more than 5 years of experience in semiconductor capital equipment engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include system integration, testing, documentation, and field support.

  • Integrate, test, and characterize systems and components for new system development.
  • Combine hardware and optical subsystems with software to deliver high-performance products.
  • Design and execute experiments to characterize, troubleshoot, and improve metrology performance.
  • Develop and execute plans of action; meet project schedules and deliverables.
  • Generate internal and external technical presentations and documentation for manufacturing and service.
  • Release documented procedures through the ECO process.
  • Provide field support at customer sites; travel up to 30% internationally.
  • Work full-time on-site at the primary factory location.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.

  • More than 5 years' experience in a semiconductor capital equipment engineering role, preferably metrology.
  • Experience in new product integration, development, and release processes.
  • Hands-on experience integrating precision optical and optomechanical components.
  • Strong analytical skills and systematic troubleshooting in development settings.
  • Ability to define configurable system-level BOMs and establish test processes and procedures.
  • Experience working on prototype systems in a hands-on laboratory environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Sciences (Engineering, Physics, Optics) or equivalent practical experience.
