Job Title

Senior Designer, Layout

Role Summary

Experienced IC layout engineer responsible for independently delivering complex analog and mixed-signal physical designs within the Industrial Connectivity and Control (ICC) business unit. Works on signal-chain products targeting Industrial, Ethernet and other broad markets.

Acts as a technical resource for less-experienced engineers and collaborates with circuit designers and cross-functional teams to produce tapeout-ready layouts.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 4+ years of relevant industry experience or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on developing and delivering complex integrated circuit layouts and ensuring physical verification and manufacturability for tapeout.

  • Create IC layouts: place and route active and passive devices using Cadence (Virtuoso) and related tools.
  • Develop floorplans at block, subsystem, and chip level for large/complex designs.
  • Perform physical verification and signoff tasks: LVS, DRC, density, extraction, EM checks.
  • Collaborate closely with analog designers to resolve layout-related circuit issues.
  • Analyze and optimize layouts for performance, power, and manufacturability.
  • Work with minimal supervision on complex assignments and support multi-site teams.
  • Implement and validate layouts for a variety of circuit types (ADCs, DACs, LDOs, PLLs, bandgaps, amplifiers, etc.).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • Advanced IC layout expertise with broad application of layout principles and concepts.
  • Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso layout tools and Mentor Graphics/Calibre verification flows.
  • Strong knowledge of CMOS technology, static timing analysis, power analysis, and common EDA tools.
  • Experience optimizing layouts for performance, power, and manufacturability.
  • Ability to work independently on complex tasks and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor device physics and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Nice to have: scripting experience (Skill, Perl, Tcl).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronics and Communication, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. The posting also references 4+ years of relevant experience as preferred.
