Senior Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement verification environments and testbenches to validate ASIC/FPGA IP and SoC functionality. Work with architects and design engineers to define verification strategies, execute regressions, debug failures, and drive coverage closure.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 9+ years of experience in ASIC or FPGA design verification (as stated in the posting).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing verification environments, writing tests, and collaborating with design teams to close functional gaps.

• Collaborate with architects and design engineers to define verification strategies and test plans.
• Develop reusable, constrained-random verification environments using SystemVerilog and UVM.
• Create and run directed and random tests and sequences to exercise functionality and find bugs.
• Implement verification components: drivers, monitors, scoreboards, and checkers.
• Use SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA) and formal methods to verify complex properties.
• Execute simulation regressions, debug failures, perform root-cause analysis, and work with designers on fixes.
• Define and track functional and code coverage metrics to drive coverage closure.
• Develop automation and infrastructure scripts to improve verification efficiency.
• Participate in technical reviews of specifications, designs, and test plans.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for the role.

• 9+ years of ASIC or FPGA design verification experience.
• Expertise in HDLs (Verilog or VHDL) and HVLs such as SystemVerilog.
• Strong hands-on experience developing UVM-based testbenches and verification components.
• Proficiency in coverage-driven verification (CDV) and assertion-based verification (ABV).
• Experience with simulation and debug tools.
• Strong scripting skills (Python, Perl, or Tcl) for automation and data analysis.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills; able to work in cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with protocols such as AMBA (AXI, ACE, CHI, APB), PCIe, or Ethernet is a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
