Role Summary

Lead and execute evaluation strategies for FPGA prototypes and automotive networking ASICs from platform bring-up through system-level validation, characterization, and release readiness. Work within the Automotive Networking Evaluation team and collaborate with design, verification, software, systems, and product teams to identify risks, resolve technical issues, and ensure product quality.

Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and improve evaluation methodologies, automation, and laboratory practices to produce repeatable, traceable results.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include hands-on evaluation, automation, and cross-functional problem resolution:

• Define and execute evaluation strategies, test plans, coverage goals, and release criteria for FPGA prototypes and automotive ASICs.
• Translate product and system requirements into measurable laboratory tests covering functionality, performance, interoperability, robustness, and corner cases.
• Develop modular, maintainable test and automation software (C, Python) for instrument control, data acquisition, regression execution, and reporting.
• Run and analyze complex silicon and FPGA test cases; debug failures across hardware, firmware, software, interfaces, and system boundaries.
• Perform electrical and functional measurements using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, etc.
• Lead root-cause investigations, document findings, and coordinate cross-functional resolution.
• Evaluate automotive Ethernet and related networking functionality, including link behavior, data-path performance, timing, error handling, diagnostics, and interoperability.
• Create system-level hardware, embedded software, scripts, test procedures, user guides, application examples, and technical reports.
• Review results to identify coverage gaps and technical risks; communicate evidence-based recommendations to stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experiences required to perform the role; preferred items are listed as nice-to-have.

• Minimum four years of relevant experience in design evaluation, silicon validation, product engineering, or systems engineering.
• Hands-on experience evaluating FPGA prototypes and performing bench validation or characterization of ASICs.
• Proficiency in C and Python for test, automation, or embedded software development.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, digital hardware, laboratory measurement techniques, and hardware/software integration.
• Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and evidence-based decision-making skills.
• Experience capturing, processing, and presenting technical data with emphasis on accuracy, repeatability, and traceability.
• Working knowledge of Ethernet and networking concepts and experience with serial interfaces such as SPI, I2C, and UART.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to produce clear technical reports.
• Demonstrated collaboration, ownership, and ability to influence outcomes across cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with automotive networking architectures (zonal systems, software-defined vehicles), Ethernet protocol analysis, network traffic generation, embedded firmware development, audio/video data paths (PDM, RGB8), and experience with CI/source control/automated regression frameworks.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
