Senior Design Engineer, MMU and TLB
Role Summary
The Senior Design Engineer will implement, debug, and optimize the memory management unit (MMU) and translation lookaside buffer (TLB) for a high-performance processor. The role is part of the hardware design team responsible for memory and system-level functionality.
Work includes RTL implementation, microarchitectural decisions, and collaboration with system architects, verification, and synthesis teams to meet power, performance, and area targets.
Experience Level
Senior β approximately 5β8 years of relevant experience. Strong candidates with somewhat less experience may be considered.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on MMU/TLB design, verification support, and integration into a high-performance processor.
- Implement MMU/TLB features and lookup engines in RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog).
- Debug functional issues and resolve timing (STA), CDC, and lint problems.
- Optimize designs for power, performance, and area in deep-submicron processes.
- Collaborate with system architects, verification, synthesis, and tooling teams to integrate and validate MMU/TLB functionality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 5β8 years of experience in MMU, TLB, or related memory-management design.
- Practical experience with memory management units, lookup engines, TLBs, and control logic.
- Good understanding of system architecture and power/performance tradeoffs.
- Design experience in deep-submicron technology and low-power techniques.
- Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog, synthesis flows, static timing analysis (STA), CDC, and lint tools.
- Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Tcl) is a plus.
