Senior Design Engineer
NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
Senior Design Engineer (STA)
Role Summary
Responsible for complete static timing analysis (STA) signoff on complex SoCs. Collaborate with RTL, IP, architecture, physical design, PDN and verification teams to achieve robust timing closure at block, subsystem and chip top level.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Lead STA activities across the project lifecycle and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timing closure and signoff quality.
- Develop and refine timing constraints for blocks, subsystems and chip top throughout the physical design flow.
- Own STA closure from project start through timing signoff; validate constraints and ensure quality of signoff.
- Support implementation, floorplan and PDN teams during timing closure and constraint refinement.
- Perform timing ECO flows and constraints validation; analyze timing reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate and debug silicon timing issues.
- Collaborate with RTL, IP and architecture teams to resolve timing and interface issues.
- Build AI-enabled workflows and automation to improve STA execution efficiency.
Requirements
Core technical skills and practical experience required for STA signoff roles.
Must-have- Strong expertise in STA concepts; experience with functional and DFT modes.
- Hands-on experience with industry-standard timing tools.
- Proficiency in timing constraints validation and timing ECO flows.
- Knowledge of physical design stages: synthesis, placement, CTS and routing.
- Understanding of signal integrity and experience analyzing SI reports and taking corrective actions.
- Experience with silicon debug related to timing.
- Experience writing automation for STA flows (scripting/EDA automation).
- Exposure to high-speed interfaces (DDR, SerDes, MIPI, USB) and AC-spec timing closure.
- Prior ownership of block, subsystem or top-level STA signoff.
- Experience applying AI/agent-based workflows to improve engineering efficiency.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (explicitly listed in the posting). No equivalent-experience language or additional certification requirements were specified.
