Senior Design Engineer — CPU Execution Unit
TachyumJob Title
Senior Design Engineer — CPU Execution Unit
Role Summary
Design and implement the CPU execution unit, focusing on arithmetic/ALU logic and high-speed processor pipeline microarchitectures. Work within the CPU core team to deliver RTL, ensure timing closure, and support low-power, deep-submicron implementations.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical guidance: 5–8 years of relevant ASIC/CPU design experience; exceptional candidates with lower experience may be considered.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include microarchitecture and RTL design, timing closure, and collaboration with verification and physical design teams.
- Design ALU/arithmetic units and instruction execution datapaths for high-speed pipelines.
- Develop and deliver RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) for execution-stage logic.
- Work on timing closure and static timing analysis (STA) for deep-submicron designs.
- Apply low-power design techniques appropriate for advanced process nodes.
- Address CDC and lint issues, and support synthesis flows toward gate-level implementation.
- Collaborate with verification, physical design, and system architects to integrate execution unit changes.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; list of preferred extras follows.
- 5–8 years of relevant ASIC/processor design experience (flexible for strong candidates).
- Proven experience with ALU/arithmetic logic design in high-speed processor pipelines.
- Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL coding, synthesis flows, and STA.
- Familiarity with CDC analysis and lint workflows and fixing related issues.
- Hands-on experience with low-power techniques for deep-submicron technologies.
- Ability to work effectively with verification and physical design teams toward tapeout.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with C and scripting languages (Perl, shell, Python, awk).
Education Requirements
Not specified.
