Senior Design Engineer, CPU Execution Unit
TachyumJob Title
Senior Design Engineer, CPU Execution Unit
Role Summary
Design and optimize the CPU execution unit (ALU and related pipeline stages) for Tachyum's Prodigy Universal Processor. Work within the hardware/CPU microarchitecture team to deliver high-speed, low-power RTL suitable for deep-submicron processes.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 5 to 8 years of relevant industry experience (strong candidates with slightly lower experience may be considered).
Responsibilities
Deliver and integrate RTL for the execution unit and support timing, synthesis, and verification flows.
- Design and implement arithmetic/ALU logic and execution-stage microarchitecture.
- Optimize logic for high-speed processor pipelines and low-power deep-submicron implementation.
- Produce synthesizable Verilog/SystemVerilog and support synthesis and static timing analysis (STA) closure.
- Coordinate with CDC, lint, verification, and timing teams to ensure correct and performant designs.
- Participate in design reviews and drive implementation to meet performance, area, and power targets.
Requirements
Core skills and experience required for the role.
- Must-have: 5β8 years of practical experience in CPU/execution unit or similar RTL design.
- Must-have: Experience with ALU/arithmetic unit logic design with emphasis on high-speed pipeline architectures.
- Must-have: Hands-on RTL using Verilog/SystemVerilog, synthesis flow knowledge, and familiarity with STA, CDC, and lint practices.
- Must-have: Experience targeting deep submicron technologies and applying low-power design techniques.
- Nice-to-have: Proficiency in C and scripting (Perl, shell, Python, awk) to support tooling and validation tasks.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
