Job Title

Senior Design Engineer – AI SoC Development

Role Summary

Design and deliver RTL and microarchitecture for complex SoC IP blocks used in AI hardware across edge and data-center products. Work within the AI SoC organization to integrate IPs, optimize for power/performance/area, and ensure designs are synthesis- and timing-clean through close collaboration with verification and physical design teams.

Experience Level

Senior-level — minimum 7+ years of RTL design and implementation experience for ASIC/SoC development.

Responsibilities

Deliver and validate RTL-based IP and subsystems, drive integration and handoff, and support bring-up and post-silicon activities.

  • Evaluate architectural trade-offs for features, performance, power, and system constraints.
  • Define and document micro-architecture; implement RTL in Verilog/SystemVerilog and integrate at top level.
  • Ensure delivered designs are verified, synthesis-clean, and meet timing and power goals.
  • Collaborate with verification teams to review verification plans and resolve failing RTL tests.
  • Develop and maintain timing constraints; support physical design for synthesis, timing closure, and formal equivalence.
  • Drive silicon bring-up, debug, and post-silicon performance analysis.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design methodology and quality improvements.

Requirements

Minimum technical requirements and desirable skills.

Must-have:

  • 7+ years of RTL design and implementation experience for ASIC/SoC development.
  • Proven RTL coding skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog and experience with RTL-to-synthesis flows.
  • Experience optimizing designs for timing, power, area and achieving timing closure.
  • Experience integrating IP blocks and performing SoC-level integration.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with standard bus protocols (AXI, AHB) and multicore CPU subsystem design.
  • Expertise in high-speed and low-power design techniques.
  • Familiarity with EDA tools (VCS, Questa, Xcelium), lint tools (Spyglass), and FPGA prototyping (Vivado, Quartus).
  • Scripting for automation (Python, TCL) and design flow optimization.
  • Hands-on silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
