Senior Design Engineer

Role Summary

Develop IP and technology components for advanced SoCs; translate architecture into micro-architecture and RTL, collaborate with architects, verification, and implementation teams, and mentor junior engineers.

Work focuses on micro-architecture, RTL coding, design quality, and evolving design methodologies. Arm supports curiosity and ambitious problem-solving (10x mindset).

Experience Level

Senior-level - typically 5+ years of relevant digital/SoC IP design experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver IP designs and collaborate across teams; ownership spans specification to RTL and design quality.

• Develop micro-architecture and RTL for IP/subsystems.
• Translate architecture specifications into detailed design specifications.
• Perform RTL coding, bug fixing, and design quality checks.
• Collaborate with verification teams on test plans and debugging activities.
• Work on synthesis, timing, power, and clock/power domain implementations.
• Improve and evolve design methodologies, flows, and guidelines.
• Mentor and support junior team members to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• 5+ years designing IPs or subsystems for SoCs.
• Synthesis and timing analysis experience.
• Power management and low-power design techniques.
• Clock and power domain implementation experience.
• Digital hardware design with Verilog HDL; hands-on RTL development expertise.
• Static checks experience (lint, CDC, RDC, power checks).
• Experience writing design and micro-architecture specifications.
• Proficiency with scripting (Perl, Python, etc.).

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with ARM-based designs or ARM system architectures.

Exposure to:

• Advanced synthesis checks.
• Functional verification (X-propagation, GLS).
• DFT and physical implementation flows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
