Job Title
Senior Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and implement micro-architecture and RTL for SoC compute subsystems and I/O, integrating IP such as PCIe, DDR and other interfaces. Work on a cross-functional design team collaborating with verification, performance analysis, backend implementation and project management to deliver SoC features to schedule.
Role contributes to design methodology improvements and mentors other engineers on the team.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 7+ years' experience in design of complex compute subsystems or SoCs.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Integrate I/O and memory subsystems (PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, HBM, etc.) into SoC designs.
- Write micro-architecture specifications and develop RTL implementations.
- Debug design issues, fix RTL bugs, and perform design checks.
- Collaborate with verification teams to review test plans and debug build issues.
- Partner with performance analysis to evaluate and improve system performance.
- Support backend implementation for floorplanning, constraints and timing closure.
- Contribute to and improve team design methodologies and flows.
- Guide and support other engineers and coordinate with project management on plans and schedules.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 7+ years' experience designing complex compute subsystems or SoCs.
- Strong digital hardware design skills and production experience with Verilog HDL.
- Experience developing and integrating subsystems for PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, HBM, UCIe, Ethernet.
- Proven experience creating design specifications and delivering RTL for SoC projects.
- Experience with static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-Propagation) and linting.
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as Perl or Python for automation and debug.
- Familiarity with contemporary SoC design techniques and cross-team collaboration (verification, backend, performance).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ARM-based designs and ARM system architectures.
- Experience with SystemVerilog and verification methodologies (UVM/OVM/e).
- Experience leading small teams or projects.
- Knowledge of synthesis and timing analysis, power management techniques, DFT and physical implementation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely related technical field.
