Senior Design Engineer
ArmJob Title
Senior Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design engineer on an SoC and I/O subsystem team responsible for micro-architecture, RTL development, integration of IP (PCIe, DDR, HBM, UCIe, Ethernet) and delivering production-quality silicon features.
The role works with architecture, verification, performance analysis and backend implementation teams to define specifications, develop RTL, debug issues, and support timing closure and floorplanning.
Experience Level
Senior - 7+ years of relevant experience in complex SoC or compute subsystem design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include specification, implementation, integration and cross-team collaboration to deliver SoC I/O and compute subsystems.
- Define and review micro-architecture and build specifications for I/O subsystems and SoCs.
- Develop and maintain RTL; debug and fix functional and integration bugs.
- Integrate PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, HBM, UCIe and Ethernet IP into SoC designs.
- Collaborate with verification to review test plans and debug build failures.
- Work with performance analysis to evaluate and improve system performance.
- Support backend implementation: floorplanning, constraints and timing closure.
- Perform and address static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-propagation, linting).
- Contribute to and improve team design methodologies; mentor junior engineers.
- Coordinate with project management on schedules, plans and project activities.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills; followed by concise nice-to-have items.
- 7+ years designing complex compute subsystems or SoCs.
- Strong digital hardware design skills and Verilog HDL experience.
- Experience developing design specifications and RTL for SoC projects.
- Experience integrating subsystems: PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, HBM, UCIe, Ethernet.
- Experience with static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-propagation, linting).
- Familiarity with scripting (Perl, Python or similar) for design automation.
- Nice to have: ARM-based design experience, SystemVerilog and UVM/e, leadership of small teams or projects, synthesis and timing analysis, power management techniques, DFT and physical implementation experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field (as stated). No explicit equivalent-experience statement provided.
