Senior Design Automation Engineer - Reliability Verification (RV) Tools, Flows and Methodology
Intel CorporationJob Title
Senior Design Automation Engineer - Reliability Verification (RV) Tools, Flows and Methodology
Role Summary
Senior owner of Reliability Verification (RV) tools, flows and methodology within the Silicon Design Automation (CAD) organization. Responsible for developing, releasing and supporting RV flows across custom/analog and ASIC design styles, and for running block- and IP-level RV on live projects.
Works with design leads, physical design owners, Global RV, QRE and technology enablement to achieve project RV sign-off and to modernize RV workflows and automation.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 6+ years of relevant experience in IC design, physical design, or design automation with hands-on Reliability Verification (EM/IR).
Responsibilities
Develop, maintain and run RV flows; provide project support and drive cross-functional engagement.
- Own design, release and maintenance of RV tools, flows and regressions for custom/analog and ASIC design styles.
- Execute block and IP-level RV runs (static/dynamic EM/IR, self-heat, peak-current) and triage violations with designers to closure.
- Enable RV for new process nodes: ingest foundry collateral, update configurations/derates and validate regressions.
- Support milestone execution through block, subsystem and full-chip RV to tape-in and sign-off.
- Provide first-line user support: ticket triage, debugging, documentation, training and labs.
- Engage with EDA vendors: evaluate tools, benchmark, escalate bugs and influence roadmaps.
- Apply modern scripting and AI/ML techniques to reduce runtime, resource usage and debugging effort.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, tools and working practices required to perform the role.
- Hands-on production experience with at least one industry-standard EM/IR tool such as Ansys Totem, Ansys RedHawk/RedHawk-SC, Cadence Voltus or Voltus-XFi.
- Working understanding of electromigration, static and dynamic IR drop, self-heating, current density and peak-current analysis, and how these map to sign-off criteria.
- Practical experience running verification/analysis on real design databases and debugging results with designers during live projects.
- Strong programming and automation skills in Python and Tcl; shell scripting experience in a Linux/LSF compute environment.
- Experience with flow scripting, regressions, dashboards, release notes and managed workspaces.
- Ability to work independently across geographically distributed teams with strong written and verbal communication.
- Experience engaging with EDA vendors for evaluations, benchmarking and feature/bug escalation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. The role typically expects 6+ years of relevant IC design, physical design, or CAD experience.
