Job Title

Senior Data Scientist, Smart Manufacturing & AI

Role Summary

Develop predictive models, algorithms, and data-driven solutions to improve semiconductor manufacturing yield and process performance. Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, process engineers, and UX teams to identify problems, build prototypes, and deploy production-ready data science solutions.

Work focuses on large-scale data integration, cleansing, statistical modeling, machine learning/deep learning, and exploratory solution development to address wafer- and memory-related manufacturing issues.

Experience Level

Senior β€” at least 3 years of professional experience in data science within engineering or a related industry (posting specifies a minimum of 3 years).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include data analysis, model development, and solution deployment in a manufacturing environment.

  • Design, develop, and validate statistical models, machine learning, and deep learning solutions for manufacturing problems.
  • Extract, cleanse, integrate, and analyze large datasets from multiple databases and platforms.
  • Prototype solutions rapidly based on business requirements and productionize data science models.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, Process/Business Engineers, and UX teams to define scope and deliverables.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and root-cause investigations using domain knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Communicate model assumptions, limitations, and results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

Key skills and experience required and preferred for successful performance in this role.

  • Must-have: Minimum ~3 years of applied data science experience in engineering or related industry; strong knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning, and deep learning.
  • Must-have: Proficient in Python and familiar with at least one ML framework (e.g., PyTorch, scikit-learn).
  • Must-have: Ability to extract and query data using SQL and other query languages; experience with data cleansing, outlier handling, and missing-data techniques.
  • Must-have: Experience building prototypes and deploying data science solutions into production environments.
  • Must-have: Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with stakeholders to drive issues to resolution.
  • Must-have: Proactive problem-solving mindset and ownership of deliverables.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform or other big data/cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Generative AI (RAG, LLM tuning), agentic problem solving, and root-cause-analysis algorithms.
  • Full-stack skills to build scalable, robust end-to-end data science applications.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), wafer process, yield analysis, or semiconductor domain experience.
  • Relevant publications in ML/CV/AI conferences are a plus (note: this is not a research position).

Education Requirements

B.S. or M.S. in Data Science, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or other engineering field, or equivalent practical experience. Ph.D. in a related subject area is preferred. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of degree credentials.
