Senior Custom Design Engineer
SyntharaJob Title
Senior Custom Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and ship high-performance, low-power SRAM and custom-digital sub-systems for compute-in-memory products. Own architecture, circuit implementation, verification, and silicon correlation for advanced process nodes.
Work hands-on on memory periphery and datapath interfaces and collaborate closely with layout, digital, backend, DFT, and test teams to ensure robust, production-ready macros.
Experience Level
Senior — 5+ years of experience in custom memory or digital circuit design (custom digital, analog, or SRAM design).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include full lifecycle design, verification, and silicon correlation of embedded memory and custom digital blocks.
- Design and verify embedded SRAM and custom digital blocks (caches, register files, datapath, and adjacent interfaces).
- Optimize PPA for advanced nodes: variation and stability closure, corners and Monte Carlo, leakage and dynamic power reduction.
- Define digital boundaries and timing budgets to integrate blocks into a digital-on-top flow.
- Plan and run silicon correlation: bring-up, characterization benches, ATE data analysis, and errata resolution.
- Collaborate with layout and backend teams on floorplan, guarding, shielding, routing topology; review extraction and resolve EM/IR issues.
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation for characterization, regression, and reporting (Python or Tcl); produce reusable specs, checklists, and collateral.
Requirements
Must-have technical capabilities and working style.
- Proven ownership of complete design cycles on sub-blocks with delivered silicon.
- Strong understanding of high-performance and low-power circuit design on FinFET nodes, including bitcell stability and periphery trade-offs.
- Experience with silicon characterization and correlation (bring-up, characterization benches, ATE data analysis, errata).
- Ability to define clear interfaces and constraints across teams; organized, self-directed, and delivery-oriented.
Nice-to-have:
- Scripting for automation and characterization (Python, Tcl).
- Experience with memory compiler development, characterization, or verification.
- DTCO or STCO experience aligning device, bitcell, and periphery choices with product goals.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering. The role expects 5+ years of relevant industry experience in custom digital, analog, or SRAM design.
