Senior CPU Security Architect
Role Summary
Senior architect responsible for designing and implementing CPU security features for next-generation secure platforms. Work cross-functionally with CPU architects, hardware and software engineers, verification, R&D and security teams to embed secure design principles from architecture through silicon bring-up.
Hybrid role based in SECQAI offices in London or Bristol with occasional customer travel. Early-stage company with employee option programme.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 9+ years of relevant CPU and system security architecture experience.
Responsibilities
Own technical security architecture and drive implementation across hardware and system software.
- Architect and implement CPU security features and mitigations to counteract threats.
- Collaborate with CPU architects, designers, software, verification and R&D teams to ensure secure design principles are implemented.
- Conduct proactive security assessments and recommend design changes.
- Monitor industry threats, vulnerabilities and trends relevant to semiconductors.
- Contribute to roadmap planning, design reviews and silicon bring-up; act as a security thought leader.
- Develop and evaluate novel security approaches with R&D teams.
- Produce and review detailed technical documentation.
- Support certification efforts including planning, documentation and liaison with labs and agencies.
- Occasional travel to meet customers and partners as required.
Requirements
Core technical and leadership requirements (must-haves listed first; desirable items listed separately).
- 9+ years of experience in CPU and system security architecture.
- Deep understanding of memory safety, control-flow integrity, and isolation/virtualization technologies.
- Strong experience with at least one CPU ISA.
- Proven experience leading a team of engineers.
- Experience performing security assessments and driving remediation in hardware or system designs.
- Experience supporting certification or compliance activities for secure systems.
- High standards for technical delivery and documentation; strong collaborative skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with RISC-V and CHERI ISAs.
- Functional safety and security knowledge.
- Experience taking a design from concept through to tape-out.
- Familiarity with relevant security standards for secure platforms.
Education Requirements
B.Eng./B.Sc., M.Eng./M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
