Job Title

Senior CPU Pre-Si Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Join the E-Core CPU pre-silicon verification team in Guadalajara to validate RTL implementations of new and existing CPU architecture and microarchitecture features. The role focuses on developing and executing verification plans, building simulation test environments, and driving bugs to closure to ensure high-quality silicon.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical background: Bachelor's in a technical field plus 3+ years relevant experience, or Master's plus 2+ years (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing pre-silicon verification for CPU IP and collaborating with cross-site design and architecture teams.

  • Develop pre-silicon validation test plans and test scenarios to verify correctness of RTL designs.
  • Design and implement simulation environment components: bus functional models, trackers, checkers, scoreboards, and testbenches.
  • Perform and debug digital simulations; analyze failures and drive root-cause analysis to bug closure.
  • Develop functional coverage models and achieve coverage targets.
  • Use formal verification methods where appropriate to supplement simulation-based validation.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, micro-architects, and other stakeholders to improve test plans and quality.
  • Deliver high-quality outputs on schedule and work effectively in cross-site teams.

Requirements

Key must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items listed separately.

  • Experience with hardware description languages and RTL verification (VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog).
  • Testbench development experience using SystemVerilog UVM/OVM.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (C/C++, Python, Perl, Ruby) and comfort with Unix/Linux.
  • Experience writing tests, developing checkers, performing coverage analysis, debugging failures, and conducting root-cause analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills for cross-site work.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus 3+ years of relevant work experience; OR Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus 2+ years of relevant work experience. No certifications were specified.
