Senior CPO System Hardware Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for system architecture and design of Co‑Package Optics (CPO) switch hardware from concept through mass production within the Hardware Switch Group. Focuses on electro‑optic‑mechanical integration, hardware validation, and cross‑disciplinary coordination to deliver high‑performance data‑center networking products.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 8+ years of relevant system/hardware engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define CPO switch hardware requirements, architecture, board partitioning, and electro‑optic‑mechanical concepts.
- Design and review schematics, component selection, PCB layout, opto‑mechanics, and DFM/DT considerations.
- Lead integration across board design, mechanics, thermal, production, firmware/software, and RTL teams.
- Perform hands‑on lab testing for electrical and optical integration and validation.
- Support production and qualification processes; troubleshoot electrical and optical issues through production ramp.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven experience designing and integrating complex hardware projects and leading multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Hands‑on lab skills and proficiency with hardware and software test tools.
- Comprehensive understanding of RTL implementations (CPLD/FPGA).
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to drive issues to closure in lab and production environments.
- Effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ownership of technical deliverables.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with data‑center switch product design, validation/verification, and high‑volume manufacturing.
- Experience with optical systems: design, debugging, and testing.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering is requested; equivalent practical experience is accepted.
