Role Summary

Consulting engineer supporting PDF Solutions' e-beam (eProbe) tools to improve yield in state-of-the-art 300mm semiconductor fabs. Work with foundry and fab customers to analyze e-beam output, design experiments, build repeatable analysis flows, and deliver actionable reports.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical analysis, experiment design, and customer-facing consulting to enable yield improvement.

• Analyze eProbe e-beam output to identify yield-impacting defects and maximize customer benefit.
• Design and execute RD experiments to retarget defects, strengthen signals, reduce noise, and improve throughput.
• Create repeatable dataflows and analysis processes for consistent tool readout.
• Present findings and influence customers to incorporate eProbe analysis into their yield workflows.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

• Hands-on experience with e-beam / eProbe tool readouts and yield analysis.
• Ability to use layout edit/review tools (examples: Cadence ICFB, KLayout) and interpret GDS/Oasis layouts.
• Familiarity with analysis platforms (examples: JMP, Spotfire) and ability to create repeatable dataflows.
• Experience diagnosing semiconductor fail modes across FEOL and BEOL (opens, shorts).
• Basic device physics knowledge (PN junctions, transistor operation, CMOS integration).
• Proven ability to drive experiments rapidly and produce high-quality analysis reports for customers.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with inspection tools (optical, voltage-contrast, spectroscopy).
• Experience reading schematics, PFA cross-sections, or interpreting circuit-level failures.
• Programming skills (Python preferred; Java, C#, C++, Ruby, Perl, etc. acceptable).
• Prior customer-facing consulting experience in a technical setting.
