Senior Compute System Software Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Compute System Software team to design and implement user-mode drivers and system software that interact with NVIDIA GPUs, DLAs, and Tegra compute engines. The role focuses on architecture, functional-safety-aware design, and enabling deployment in automotive and other safety-critical domains.
Experience Level
Senior-level; typically 5+ years of professional experience in complex software development, design, and analysis.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, development, safety hardening, and cross-team collaboration.
- Define architecture, design, analyze, and implement system and user-mode driver software for GPUs and DLAs.
- Develop functional-safety software and modify complex software to meet automotive safety requirements and certification standards.
- Collaborate with architecture and hardware engineers on next-generation compute engines and contribute to computing standards.
- Harden software for safety-critical deployment and participate in software audits and reviews.
- Promote high-quality engineering practices, perform design reviews, and mentor other engineers.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 5+ years of experience in complex software development, design, and analysis.
- Strong software engineering practices and attention to quality.
- Solid understanding of computer architecture and operating systems fundamentals.
- Effective collaborator, self-motivated, and able to mentor team members.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with parallel programming models such as CUDA or OpenCL.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX).
- Experience with fixed-function or special-purpose hardware (DLA, NPU, ISP, DSP).
- Experience developing or hardening safety-critical software and supporting software audits.
- Familiarity with software safety analyses (FMEA, FTA, HAZOP, DFA/coexistence analysis).
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
