Job Title

Senior Compiler Engineer - Systems Team

Role Summary

The Systems Team acts as Riverlane’s technical interface to customers, owning product integration, deployment and on-site troubleshooting for DeltaFlow hardware connected to quantum control systems.

This role configures low-level software libraries and code to deliver predictable, low-latency, high-throughput systems that support quantum experiments and customer integrations.

Experience Level

Senior-level. No specific years-of-experience stated.

Responsibilities

Work directly with customers and internal teams to integrate, benchmark and support Riverlane systems.

  • Host technical workshops and evaluate customers' control system and data communication requirements.
  • Perform end-to-end on-site system deployment and integration with customer hardware.
  • Develop and adapt Python and low-level code (C++ or Rust) to interface with customer control systems and ensure correct data packet handling.
  • Design and run experiments with the Quantum Application Team to validate integrations.
  • Benchmark hardware latency and throughput; identify and report limitations.
  • Troubleshoot customer issues, reproduce setups with QA, and write scripts to trace and debug faults.
  • Update verification environments and test vectors based on experimental data.
  • Act as customer advocate: report trends, successes and issues to the product team and recommend feature needs.

Requirements

Core technical skills and practical experience required to deliver production compiler and systems software for instrument integration.

  • Broad knowledge of the software and hardware stack: compilers, operating systems and computer architectures.
  • Experience with compilers (LLVM, MLIR or equivalent).
  • Proven experience shipping software to users and supporting integrations in the field.
  • Proficiency in Python and proficiency in either C++ or Rust.
  • Ability to translate product requirements into technical specifications and documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Curious, self-driven, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with scientific instrumentation; good knowledge of quantum mechanics.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required. A PhD in a relevant subject is a plus.
