Senior Characterization & Verification Engineer (w/m/d)
Role Summary
Join the Power Semiconductor R&D team to lead characterization and verification of power semiconductor devices (SiC Schottky diodes, SiC MOSFETs, Si MOSFETs, IGBTs). Drive automation, test-system standardization, and global harmonization of measurement procedures across lab sites.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 5 years of professional experience in semiconductor device characterization or a closely related field.
Responsibilities
The role owns device characterization and verification activities and the development of automated, reproducible test systems.
- Lead and execute electrical and thermal characterization and verification campaigns to achieve full functional coverage.
- Collaborate with design owners and product managers to develop test specifications and verification plans.
- Design, implement, maintain, and optimize automated test setups and measurement systems.
- Analyze measurement data and produce technical reports for datasheets and internal design documentation.
- Conduct design verification reviews aligned with applicable international standards.
- Drive global harmonization of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across characterization labs.
- Identify and implement best practices in metrology, automation, and data analysis.
- Troubleshoot test failures, define corrective actions, and support their implementation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; a few preferred capabilities are noted.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in semiconductor device characterization or equivalent role.
- Proven expertise in electrical characterization of power semiconductors across Si, SiC, and GaN technologies.
- Practical experience with test instruments: oscilloscopes, parameter analyzers, PXI systems.
- Experience with statistical data analysis and measurement-system evaluation.
- Strong understanding of measurement-circuit design, high-speed switching behavior, and thermal characterization methods.
- Knowledge of IEC 60747 and JEDEC standards, including thermal methods such as Rth/Zth analysis.
- Experience developing automated tests using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, C, C++ or C#.
- Experience in PCB design and development of test fixtures.
- Proven ability to work across global lab sites and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to convey technical results clearly.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Semiconductor Technology or a comparable technical field.
Approximate annual gross salary: €80,000–€100,000 (final compensation depends on experience and qualifications).
