Senior Board Design Hardware Engineer
NVIDIAJob Title
Senior Board Design Hardware Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer in NVIDIA's Hardware Switch Group based in Taipei responsible for driving design and production of next-generation networking platforms for accelerated data centers. Lead hardware development across architecture, design, validation, qualification, production ramp, and mass production while coordinating global teams and manufacturing partners.
Work focuses on enabling high-performance GPU connectivity for AI, cloud, and HPC applications.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Requires 8+ years of relevant experience in complex board design and hardware-system development.
Responsibilities
Lead technical activities across multiple switch programs and ensure products meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and production goals.
- Lead system and board development from concept through qualification, production ramp, and mass production as a technical focal point.
- Maintain a broad view across programs to identify shared risks, dependencies, and opportunities for design reuse and architectural improvement.
- Define system and board requirements, review schematics, select components, and own power delivery and CPLD/FPGA integration decisions.
- Drive cross-discipline collaboration with PCB layout, mechanics, thermal, signal/power integrity, firmware, validation, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Guide complex multilayer PCB designs with attention to performance, reliability, cost, DFM, and DFT considerations.
- Lead hands-on board bring-up, system integration, validation, and root-cause investigations; translate findings into verified corrective actions.
- Work with ODMs and contract manufacturers on NPI readiness, production-test coverage, failure analysis, yield improvement, and production-line stabilization.
- Provide technical support for products in mass production, manage hardware/component changes, and apply lessons learned across programs.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and practical skills; nice-to-have items listed at the end.
- 8+ years experience in complex board design and hardware-system development with ownership across multiple product lifecycle stages.
- Proven experience taking hardware products through NPI, production ramp, and mass production, including production-line troubleshooting and sustaining engineering.
- Hands-on expertise in electrical schematics, component selection, advanced multilayer PCB design, and high-current power delivery.
- Experience with CPLD/FPGA integration in board-level designs.
- Strong laboratory skills in board bring-up, system integration, validation, debugging, and complex root-cause analysis.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, production testing, yield and failure analysis, and corrective-action verification; experience working with ODMs or contract manufacturers.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary technical activities, make system-level decisions, and drive detailed hardware execution across multiple programs.
- Independent, proactive technical leadership with strong communication, mentoring, and coordination skills for working with global teams and manufacturing partners.
- Nice-to-have: high-speed board design (25 Gb/s+), embedded systems knowledge, advanced PCB technologies, signal and power integrity expertise, experience managing component substitutions and supplier issues, collaboration with silicon vendors and global suppliers.
Education Requirements
B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
