Senior ASIC RTL Design Engineer, AI Hardware
Role Summary
Work on the design and delivery of AI inference chips and related subsystems for Tesla's AI Hardware team (Dojo, FSD, Optimus). The role focuses on microarchitecture and RTL design for accelerators, memory, and network subsystems, and requires close collaboration with architecture, software, verification, implementation, and performance teams.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Implement and document microarchitecture specifications.
- Define system-level functional requirements.
- Design microarchitecture and RTL for accelerators, memory, and network subsystems.
- Deliver high-quality, synthesis-ready RTL to meet project targets.
- Collaborate with architecture, software, implementation, verification, and performance engineering teams.
- Balance performance, power, safety, and cost; perform trade-offs among functional, physical, and performance requirements.
- Design for synthesis and participate in timing/power trade-off decisions.
- Use simulators and waveform debug tools to verify and debug designs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 5+ years of industry experience (see Experience Level).
- Strong RTL design skills in Verilog and experience producing synthesis-ready RTL.
- Microarchitecture design expertise for high-performance, low-latency, high-bandwidth blocks.
- Experience with timing, power analysis, and area-efficient RTL implementation.
- Familiarity with low-power microarchitecture techniques and design trade-offs.
- Experience with simulators and waveform debug tools; solid logic design principles.
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with IEEE floating point formats.
- Experience with RTL design across SoC, CPU, or GPU domains.
Education Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience (the posting states "Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience").
