Job Title

Senior ASIC Power and Thermal Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for power and thermal architecture, analysis, implementation, and validation for ASIC products. Works with architecture, RTL, physical design, verification, and validation teams to meet power, performance, area, and thermal targets across design and silicon bring-up.

Experience Level

Senior. Years of experience not specified.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Define and implement power architecture and intent for ASIC designs (power domains, isolation, retention, sequencing).
  • Perform static and dynamic power analysis and optimization to meet power and performance targets.
  • Develop and run thermal models and simulations; propose thermal mitigation and packaging strategies.
  • Collaborate with RTL, synthesis, place & route, and validation teams to ensure power/thermal correctness and signoff.
  • Create scripts, flows, and automation for power and thermal analysis and signoff.
  • Support silicon bring-up: characterize power and thermal behavior, debug issues, and implement mitigations.

Requirements

Key skills and experience expected. Items labeled as "Must-have" are primary screening criteria; "Nice-to-have" indicates additional desirable skills.

  • Must-have: Practical experience with ASIC power analysis and optimization (static and dynamic power).
  • Must-have: Experience with power intent methodologies and formats (e.g., UPF/CPF) and implementing power intent through the tool flow.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with scripting and automation (Python, Tcl or similar) for analysis and flow integration.
  • Must-have: Experience with power/thermal analysis or EDA tools (examples: PrimeTime/PrimePower, Voltus, or similar).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with thermal modeling and package-level thermal considerations.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in silicon bring-up, characterization, and debug of power/thermal issues.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with GPU/accelerator or high-performance SoC design and low-power techniques.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
