Job Title
Senior ASIC/FPGA Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join Collins Aerospace's Applied Research and Technology (ART) Microelectronics Technology team to lead chip-level verification of high-performance digital ASICs and FPGAs used in defense and mission systems. The role is onsite in Fort Wayne, IN and focuses on developing verification environments, testbenches, and coverage-driven validation.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience: 5+ years relevant industry experience (or 3+ years with an advanced degree as noted in Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing verification infrastructure and validating RTL at chip and block levels.
- Architect and implement verification environments using SystemVerilog with OVM/UVM.
- Develop test plans, testcases, and track code and functional coverage.
- Create and maintain testbenches for RTL blocks using VHDL or SystemVerilog.
- Integrate and validate ASIC/FPGA solutions with design engineering teams.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers; may lead verification project activities and status reporting.
- Contribute to engineering estimates for program pursuits.
Requirements
Core requirements and preferred skills for successful performance in this role.
-
Must-have: Active, transferable U.S. government DoD Secret security clearance required on day one; U.S. citizenship required.
-
Must-have: Professional experience developing and simulating RTL using VHDL and/or Verilog in FPGA or ASIC environments.
-
Must-have: Proven ability to design, implement, and execute verification testbenches using VHDL and/or SystemVerilog.
-
Must-have: Working knowledge of chip-level verification methodologies, including constrained-random testing, functional coverage, and assertion-based verification using SystemVerilog.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with revision control tools and workflows (e.g., Git, Subversion).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with high-speed digital interfaces and protocols (DDR, PCIe, Ethernet).
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with lab validation and debug using standard ASIC/FPGA lab equipment.
-
Nice-to-have: Proficiency with industry-standard simulation and synthesis tools (QuestaSim, Synplify, Quartus, Vivado).
-
Nice-to-have: Background in aerospace, defense, or mission-critical systems; Unix/Linux and scripting skills.
Education Requirements
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field plus a minimum of 3 years of experience.
