Job Title

Senior ASIC Engineer

Role Summary

Work within Qualcomm's ASICS Engineering team to define, model, design, optimize, verify, validate, implement, and document IP blocks and SoCs for high-performance, low-power products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet system-level requirements and product goals.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience 3+ years in ASIC design/verification/validation/integration; minimum experience expectations start at ~2 years for experienced hires.

Responsibilities

Accountable for architecture, design, verification, and delivery of ASIC IP/blocks or SoC components.

  • Define architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations from system-level requirements.
  • Design and optimize digital and/or analog IP for performance, power, and area targets.
  • Execute RTL-to-GDS flows and/or custom layout flows through synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis, and verification.
  • Develop and apply design verification methods and validation plans.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware architecture teams to align implementation strategy with system needs.
  • Produce detailed technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC projects.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and influence cross-team technical decisions.

Requirements

Key technical skills and practical experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Practical ASIC design, verification, validation, or integration experience (minimum ~2 years; 3+ years preferred).
  • Experience with architecture and design tools (e.g., RTL flows, synthesis, STA, P&R).
  • Experience with scripting and programming languages for automation and tooling.
  • Familiarity with design verification methodologies and validation practices.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as RTL-to-GDS flows and/or Cadence Virtuoso or equivalent toolchains.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines and influence implementation decisions.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field (common minimum). Alternatives in the posting include a Master's degree in Science or Engineering or a PhD in a related field. Preferred fields: Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
