Senior ASIC Diagnostic Engineer

Role Summary

Design and develop diagnostics, firmware, simulators, and emulators for HPE Slingshot high-performance networking ASICs and boards. Work with ASIC, board, firmware and software teams to define, implement, and bring up NIC and switch diagnostics in a cross-functional Agile environment.

Experience Level

Senior - the role expects senior-level contribution and leadership. The posting indicates 6+ years of experience in ASIC diagnostics or silicon validation.

Responsibilities

Accountable for design, development, test, and delivery of diagnostics and firmware for complex ASIC-based networking products. Provide technical leadership and mentor other engineers.

• Design, analyze, develop, modify, and test diagnostics, firmware, simulators, and emulators for NICs and switches.
• Lead architecture and platform-level technical decisions for cross-organization projects.
• Review and evaluate designs for compliance with development standards and provide actionable feedback.
• Coordinate and lead project teams including internal and outsourced partners to deliver prototypes and products.
• Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Drive integration of new technologies into ASIC firmware, diagnostic, simulation, and emulation workstreams.

Requirements

• Expert-level C programming and strong Python scripting skills in a Linux environment.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving ability at an expert level.
• Practical experience with NIC, Ethernet, and SerDes development and debug.
• Working knowledge of Linux drivers and switch development/debug.
• Experience with firmware, diagnostics, simulation, or emulation for ASICs or boards.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice-to-have:

• Background in high-performance networking for HPC/AI environments.
• Experience integrating diagnostics across multi-site or cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent; the posting also allows equivalent practical experience.
