Senior ASIC DFT DV Engineer
Cisco SystemsJob Title
Senior ASIC DFT DV Engineer
Role Summary
Senior engineer responsible for designing and verifying Design-for-Test (DFT) architecture and developing test benches and test plans to support ATE screening, in-system test, debug, and diagnostics for ASICs. Works within the Silicon One hardware team on full product development from design through production.
This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week at Cisco's San Jose or Austin locations.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience: at least 7+ years (or 4+ years with a relevant Master's degree) in ASIC/DFT/testbench development and verification.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning tests, creating verification environments, and enabling test logic through implementation and post-silicon validation.
- Develop comprehensive test plans based on complex design specifications to support ATE screening, in-system test, debug, and diagnostics.
- Design and implement verification testbenches (SystemVerilog) and reusable test/debug methodologies.
- Collaborate with design, design-verification, and product development teams to integrate and validate DFT logic across implementation and post-silicon flows.
- Define DFT and test strategies for new silicon device models, including bare die and stacked die.
- Debug test and silicon issues efficiently using industry tools and drive root-cause analysis.
- Document test methodologies, standards, and reusable assets for the team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools; preferred items listed separately.
- Proven experience in test planning derived from complex design specifications.
- Hands-on testbench development using SystemVerilog.
- Experience debugging with DVE, Verdi, or equivalent debug tools.
- Scripting experience with TCL, Python, or Perl.
- Strong problem-solving and on-silicon debug capabilities.
- Nice-to-have: UVM and advanced SystemVerilog, knowledge of JTAG, scan architecture, MBIST, and boundary scan.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) plus at least 7 years of related experience; or a Master's degree with at least 4 years of related experience. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable where noted.
