Senior ASIC Design Verification Engineer - Slingshot

Role Summary

Work on pre-silicon design verification for HPE Slingshot switch and NIC ASICs. The role owns verification scope for a block or subsystem, defines verification methodology, develops testbenches and coverage, and drives sign-off. The team focuses on high-performance interconnects used in large HPC and AI systems.

This position is hybrid with an expectation of about 2 days per week onsite in Chippewa Falls, WI; Fort Collins, CO; or Bloomington, MN.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 10+ years of VLSI design, verification, or implementation experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for pre-silicon verification from planning through sign-off.

• Define and follow the team's design verification methodology.
• Develop SystemVerilog and UVM testbench components, including bus functional models to drive and monitor stimulus.
• Plan and implement block- and integration-level scoreboards and checkers to verify functional behavior.
• Write and analyze functional coverage and support block-level milestone closure.
• Triage regression failures, identify logic bugs, and drive bug closure.
• Apply scripting, automation, and AI-assisted/agentic tools to improve verification speed and quality.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced engineers.
• Participate in selection and development of future technical leaders and drive VLSI innovation.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience.

• 10+ years of experience in VLSI design, verification, or implementation.
• Expert-level knowledge of SystemVerilog and OVM/UVM methodologies.
• Expertise with programming/scripting languages, hardware description languages, and EDA or FPGA tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to excel in a distributed team environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience verifying high-speed networking, switching, or NIC ASICs.
• Experience using agentic AI coding tools and workflows applied to verification.
• Familiarity with Python, Perl, Tcl in Linux development environments.
• Experience working on geographically distributed teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
