Job Title

Senior ASIC Design Engineer - TeraWave

Role Summary

Foundational role on the Silicon Systems Development team to design high-speed FPGAs, digital and mixed-signal ASICs for the TeraWave satellite communications network. The position focuses on RTL development, verification, signoff analysis, lab integration, and cross-functional delivery with systems, firmware, architecture, and product teams.

Experience Level

Senior - 7+ years of ASIC design and implementation experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver production-quality FPGA and ASIC designs and verification for a high-throughput satellite communications system.

  • Design and implement FPGA, digital ASIC, and mixed-signal ASIC blocks.
  • Develop RTL using VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog.
  • Create and maintain verification methodologies and block/system-level test benches.
  • Author and execute test plans, test harnesses, and coverage models.
  • Perform timing analysis, noise analysis, and other signoff checks; resolve timing and congestion issues.
  • Collaborate with systems, firmware, architecture, and product engineering to integrate designs.
  • Support lab bring-up, integration, and hardware/software troubleshooting.
  • Drive design issue resolution through implementation and signoff.

Requirements

Must-have skills and eligibility required to perform the role.

Must-have:

  • 7+ years of ASIC design and implementation experience.
  • Practical experience with FPGA and ASIC design flows.
  • Proficiency in HDL (VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog).
  • Experience with design verification and test bench development.
  • Comfortable in a Linux development environment.
  • Experience performing timing analysis and signoff checks.
  • Ability to collaborate across systems, firmware, and product teams and support lab integration.
  • Must meet export-control eligibility: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Willingness to undergo standard background checks required by the company.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience across the full ASIC/FPGA lifecycle: architecture, simulation, verification, validation, integration, and test.
  • Experience with software-defined radio architectures, ADC/DACs, DSPs, and communications systems (spread spectrum, FEC, QPSK/QAM, PCM/FM, PAM).
  • Strong scripting and object-oriented programming skills (Python, TCL, Perl, etc.).
  • Experience with physical design flows, RTL-to-GDSII, and industry-standard EDA tools.
  • Knowledge of deep sub-micron FinFET and CMOS technologies and DFT/Scan/MBIST/LBIST methodologies.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Fields mentioned explicitly include Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering; other related technical fields are acceptable.
