Job Title

Senior ASIC Design Engineer – Ethernet Switch & High-Speed I/O

Role Summary

Responsible for RTL and subsystem-level ASIC design and integration for high-performance Ethernet switch and high-speed I/O (SerDes) subsystems within AMD's network chip products (AINIC, DPU).

Work closely with architecture, IP, verification, and physical design teams to achieve first-pass silicon success and support post-silicon bring-up and yield improvement.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Architect and implement Ethernet subsystems and switch fabric (buffers, queues).
  • Front-end RTL design and integration for high-speed I/O and SerDes interfaces.
  • Collaborate with architecture, IP, verification, and physical design teams.
  • Perform simulations and tool-driven verification to ensure design quality.
  • Support post-silicon bring-up, debug, and yield learning.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of Ethernet protocols, switch design, and buffer/queue management.
  • Understanding of high-speed I/O (SerDes) architecture, design, and verification.
  • Experience with VCS simulation tools and RTL design using SystemVerilog/Verilog.
  • Scripting experience (Perl, Python, or Shell) for automation and tooling.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
