The role is primarily onsite in an HPE office and emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with physical design and verification teams.
The position is responsible for translating functional specifications into micro-architecture and RTL that meet power, area, and timing targets, and for mentoring junior engineers.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 5+ years of relevant ASIC/RTL design experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include architecture translation, RTL implementation, and cross-team coordination to meet performance targets.
- Develop micro-architecture specifications from functional specifications, optimizing for power and area.
- Implement RTL using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Write functional coverage and SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA) to support verification and catch corner cases.
- Collaborate with Physical Design to create optimal floorplans and address timing closure; identify and fix timing issues in RTL to meet frequency targets.
- Work with Verification to ensure full validation of design blocks.
- Mentor and guide new engineers and interns.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities; nice-to-have items listed separately.
-
Must-have: Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL design and implementation.
-
Must-have: Experience writing functional coverage and SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA).
-
Must-have: Experience collaborating with Physical Design and familiarity with timing closure practices.
