Senior Applied AI Engineer (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Role Summary

Design and deploy applied AI and data science solutions to improve semiconductor product development, validation, yield, and manufacturing efficiency. Work on end-to-end projects from data engineering through model deployment and partner with domain engineers, data engineers, and UX teams.

Experience Level

Senior. Typical experience profile per minimum qualifications: equivalent of 5+ years professional experience for Bachelor's holders, 2+ years for Master's holders; advanced research experience for PhD holders.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include research, engineering, and cross-functional delivery of AI-driven solutions for semiconductor manufacturing.

  • Develop and deploy ML/AI solutions for product development, validation, yield optimization, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Design, implement, and maintain software, algorithms, and automated pipelines to ingest, cleanse, integrate, and analyze large, heterogeneous datasets.
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts across engineering, product, and service teams to translate domain problems into data solutions.
  • Extract and communicate actionable insights through analysis, visualization, and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Drive exploratory research and evaluate new AI/ML approaches applicable to semiconductor problems.
  • Improve and automate existing tools and workflows; support ML Ops and production reliability.

Requirements

Core technical skills and demonstrated delivery experience required; preferred items listed separately.

Must-have:

  • Proven track record building and launching end-to-end data science solutions, including data engineering, model development, UI/UX integration, and ML Ops.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, modeling, and automation.
  • Experience with data engineering for large, unstructured datasets and building automated data pipelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.

Nice-to-have:

  • Semiconductor industry experience, especially memory sector.
  • Experience with Large Language Models (fine-tuning, prompt engineering, RAG, evaluation) and agentic AI systems.
  • Demonstrated collaborative and mentoring skills; interest in teaching and knowledge sharing.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, or a related field plus 5+ years relevant experience; OR Master's degree plus 2+ years relevant experience; OR PhD with relevant academic or industry experience in data science and/or the semiconductor industry. Equivalent practical experience accepted where indicated.
