Senior Applications Engineer, PrimeTime
Role Summary
Provide pre-sales evaluations, post-sales deployment, and ongoing customer support for the PrimeTime static timing analysis (STA) tool. Work closely with customers, R&D, product marketing, and sales to drive product adoption, resolve timing closure issues, and shape product priorities.
This role sits on the applications engineering team and focuses on enabling customers to complete tape-outs, optimize timing flows, and maximize the value of PrimeTime across multiple process nodes.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical background: BSEE with 3+ years relevant experience, or MSEE with 4+ years, or equivalent practical experience in applications engineering, design, or verification roles.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities center on customer enablement, technical problem solving, and cross-functional feedback to improve product capabilities.
- Support PrimeTime across pre-sales evaluations, post-sale deployments, and ongoing customer engagements.
- Run competitive benchmarks and lead customer evaluations to demonstrate technical advantages.
- Deliver customer training, technical presentations, and hands-on workshops.
- Provide tape-out support: troubleshoot complex timing and signal integrity issues under schedule pressure.
- Collaborate with R&D, product marketing, and sales to convey customer feedback and influence the product roadmap.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, best-practice guides, and knowledge-base resources.
- Engage in advanced customer collaborations to discover new use cases and strengthen partnerships.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for success in this role.
- Deep hands-on expertise with Synopsys PrimeTime STA and advanced timing analysis methodologies.
- Strong understanding of timing corners, process variation effects, and signal integrity impacts on timing closure.
- Familiarity with synthesis, physical design, extraction, and ECO workflows as they integrate with STA.
- Proficiency in TCL scripting for automation and workflow optimization.
- Proven customer-facing communication skills; able to present technical material to engineers and management.
- Experience troubleshooting tape-out issues and delivering solutions under tight timelines.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience delivering formal training sessions, workshops, or hands-on tutorials to customers.
- Prior exposure to competitive STA tools and benchmarking methodologies.
Education Requirements
BSEE (or equivalent) with 3+ years of relevant experience, or MSEE (or equivalent) with 4 years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience in applications engineering, design, or verification roles is acceptable.
