Senior Applications Engineer - Parasitic Extraction

Role Summary

Provide hands-on technical support and enablement for customers using parasitic extraction tools (primarily STARRC and R3D). Work closely with R&D, product management, and sales to diagnose issues, optimize flows, deliver training, and drive product improvement.

Responsibilities

Primary duties supporting customer deployments, debugging, and product feedback.

• Provide technical support for STARRC and R3D extraction tools: diagnose issues, tune flows, and ensure accurate parasitic models.
• Escalate complex problems to R&D, reproduce issues, validate fixes, and communicate resolutions to customers.
• Deliver technical presentations, training, and live demonstrations focused on extraction optimization and runtime reduction.
• Develop automation and utility scripts (Python, TCL, PERL, BASH) to streamline workflows and QA/QC processes.
• Manage customer engagements: project planning, milestone tracking, and reporting aligned with design schedules.
• Evaluate new product features and test compatibility across customer environments; provide actionable feedback to product teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and applied experience. Education and years-of-experience details are listed under Education Requirements.

• Hands-on experience with parasitic extraction tools, preferably STARRC, including setup and troubleshooting for advanced nodes.
• Familiarity with layout verification tools such as Calibre or ICV.
• Ability to run transistor-level simulations using HSPICE or SPECTRE on post-layout netlists.
• Custom layout experience and knowledge of electromigration analysis and reliability checks.
• Proficiency with Linux and scripting languages: Python, TCL, PERL, BASH.
• Experience in FAE/PAE/CAE or similar technical customer-facing support roles; program management and QA/QC experience is a plus.

Education Requirements

BSc in Electrical Engineering with 9+ years of relevant semiconductor design or EDA experience, or MSc with 7+ years in a related field (Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline).
