Senior Applications Engineer (Functional Verification)
Role Summary
Provide technical support and drive customer deployments of Synopsys VCS/Verdi simulation and debug technologies. Work with product teams, R&D, and customers to diagnose verification issues, integrate solutions, and improve verification flows.
Part of a Colombo-based team supporting global customers; role involves reactive support, proactive deployment work, and cross-time-zone collaboration.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 4+ years with a Bachelor's or 2+ years with a Master's in Electronics (per job requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include customer deployment, troubleshooting, and automation.
- Deploy and integrate VCS/Verdi simulation and debug tools for customers.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex verification and simulation issues.
- Collaborate with product, validation, and R&D teams to propose solutions and influence product roadmap.
- Drive competitive benchmarking and demonstrate product advantages.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Perl, TCL, Shell, Make, Python) to improve workflows.
- Work with global teams and customers across time zones to ensure successful adoption.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and desirable qualifications.
- Proficiency in verification technologies: simulation, UVM, SVA, LRM.
- Strong knowledge of HDLs: Verilog, VHDL, SystemVerilog; digital design fundamentals.
- Proven experience debugging simulation mismatches and verification flows.
- Advanced scripting skills: Perl, TCL, Make, Shell, Python; working knowledge of UNIX environments.
- Experience interfacing with customers and cross-functional teams; clear communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: exposure to Synopsys tools (SpyGlass, VC SpyGlass, Verdi), exposure to GenAI technologies, benchmarking experience, and willingness to travel.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronics with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in Electronics with 2+ years of relevant experience. Field: Electronics or closely related technical fields. No other certifications specified.
