Senior Applications Engineer (Back-End)

Role Summary

Customer-facing engineering role supporting deployment, optimization, and troubleshooting of Synopsys EDA solutions for back-end implementation flows. Works with customers, R&D, Product Management, and Sales to ensure successful tapeout and product integration.

This role focuses on improving design flows, delivering training and methodology guidance, and supporting product evaluations and pre-sales activities.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting specifies 3+ years of hands-on experience in relevant back-end domains.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer support, methodology development, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Deploy and optimize EDA solutions for customer designs and flows.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot complex RTL-to-GDSII implementation and signoff issues.
• Deliver training sessions, technical workshops, and methodology guidance to customer teams.
• Create application notes, best-practice documents, and technical presentations.
• Collaborate with R&D, Product Management, and Sales to improve product quality and customer success.
• Support product evaluations, demos, and pre-sales technical activities.
• Drive design flow and methodology improvements based on customer feedback and internal findings.

Requirements

Required technical skills, experience, and customer-facing abilities.

Must-have:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Synthesis, Physical Design, STA, Physical Verification, or Signoff.
• Solid understanding of the RTL-to-GDSII implementation flow.
• Experience with Linux and scripting (Tcl, Python, Perl, or shell scripts).
• Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication, and customer-facing skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with Synopsys tools and workflows.
• Prior experience delivering training or conducting technical workshops for customers.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
