Job Title

Senior Applications Engineer (Aprisa)

Role Summary

The Senior Applications Engineer will join the U.S. field team to support Siemens EDA's Aprisa place-and-route product. You will lead technical engagements with customers, own key customer relationships, train and mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with sales, R&D, marketing, and support to drive technical and commercial success.

This is a client-facing role focused on product adoption, P&R evaluations, and delivering results for advanced-node IC designs.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role requires more than five years of industry experience and experience leading customer-facing technical engagements and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead technical engagements and P&R evaluations with tier-1 customers for Aprisa and related tools.
  • Own and develop customer relationships; act as the primary technical liaison between customers, sales, and R&D.
  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on training for junior applications engineers.
  • Perform benchmarking, tape-out support, and meet PPA and TTR goals for advanced-node flows.
  • Advise on RTL-to-GDS flows, floorplanning, placement, clock tree synthesis, routing, and STA.
  • Document workflows, share best practices, and help improve internal business and support processes.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with marketing, technical support, customer experience, and R&D.
  • Travel to customer sites and attend face-to-face meetings as required.

Requirements

Key technical and professional requirements.

Must-have:

  • More than five years of industry experience in physical design or place-and-route roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Aprisa, Innovus, IC Compiler I/II, and/or Nitro-SoC.
  • Practical experience with RTL-to-GDS flows at advanced nodes, including tape-outs and P&R benchmarking.
  • Deep understanding of floorplanning, placement, clock tree synthesis, routing, signal and power integrity, and static timing analysis.
  • Expert-level scripting skills (TCL, Unix command line) and familiarity with Verilog and UPF.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills, organization, and project-management orientation.

Nice-to-have:

  • Prior experience working directly with tier-1 semiconductor customers on P&R evaluations and tape-outs.
  • Experience coordinating across global teams and adapting processes for early-stage product rollouts.

Education Requirements

At minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Engineering (CE), Electronic Physics (EP), Computer Science (CS), or VLSI is required.
