Senior Application Support Engineer (Tessent)

Role Summary

Provide technical support and consultation to customers using Siemens Tessent DFT tools. Work with customers to diagnose complex DFT issues, optimize DFT flows, deliver training, and liaise with R&D to report and reproduce software defects.

Position sits within Customer Services / Software (Siemens EDA) and focuses on enabling customers to achieve design-for-testability goals for integrated circuits.

Experience Level

Senior - requires substantial field experience. The role expects approximately 8+ years of relevant experience in IC design, DFT, ATE testing, or technical support.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical problem resolution, customer enablement, and coordination with engineering teams.

• Respond to and resolve customer technical support requests for Tessent DFT tools.
• Analyze customer design data (RTL, netlists), DFT insertion reports, simulation waveforms, test patterns, diagnostics, and logs to identify root causes.
• Provide DFT flow optimization recommendations and best-practice guidance tailored to customer designs.
• Deliver customized training and technical enablement on Tessent features and DFT architectures (e.g., hierarchical DFT, test compression).
• Reproduce, document, and report software defects and enhancement requests to the R&D team with clear reproduction steps and data.
• Create and maintain user documentation, application notes, FAQs, and knowledge-base articles addressing advanced DFT issues.
• Maintain technical relationships with key customers through regular exchanges and follow-ups.
• Stay current with DFT industry standards (e.g., IEEE 1149.1, 1500, 1687), test methodologies, and IC design trends.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.

• Minimum 8 years validated experience in integrated circuit design, DFT insertion and verification, ATE testing, or related technical support.
• Deep understanding of DFT principles and methodologies and proficiency in using and debugging the Siemens Tessent DFT toolchain.
• In-depth knowledge of the IC design flow (RTL to GDSII), specifically DFT insertion/verification impacts across the flow.
• Familiarity with ATE basics and test pattern formats (e.g., STIL, WGL, TDL) to assist with ATE-related issues.
• Proficient in scripting with Tcl, Perl, or Python on Linux/Unix for automation and debugging.
• Fluent in Chinese and able to read and write technical English; capable of English technical communication and documentation reading.
• Nice-to-have: Experience applying AI/ML techniques in DFT (e.g., pattern generation optimization, intelligent fault diagnosis).

Education Requirements

Master's degree or higher in Microelectronics, Integrated Circuit Design, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
