Senior Application Engineer - HAPS / ProtoCompiler
Role Summary
Lead pre-sales technical engagements for Synopsys HAPS FPGA prototyping platforms and ProtoCompiler. Work with customers and sales to design prototype solutions, run evaluations, and accelerate SoC validation and deal closure.
Translate RTL-level complexity into practical prototyping strategies, reduce evaluation risk through proofs of concept, and demonstrate measurable value to engineering and program management stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership across pre-sales engagements and customer evaluations. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead pre-sales technical engagements and proof-of-concepts for HAPS platforms and ProtoCompiler.
- Assess customer SoC validation challenges, partitioning, performance, debug, and integration needs.
- Design tailored prototyping solutions and run benchmarks that demonstrate real value.
- Present demonstrations, architecture reviews, and technical briefings to engineering and executive audiences.
- Collaborate with sales to qualify technical fit, define milestones, and advance opportunities.
- Build long-term technical relationships with customer architects and engineering leaders.
- Bring field insights back to product teams to influence roadmap and competitive positioning.
Requirements

- Hands-on FPGA-based prototyping, ASIC design, or SoC validation experience with RTL-to-hardware workflows (1–2+ years as listed in the posting).
- Strong knowledge of FPGA architectures (Xilinx, Intel), RTL design (Verilog, VHDL), synthesis flows, and hardware bring-up and debug techniques.
- Ability to present technical content to both engineers and program managers; strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites, sometimes on short notice.
- Nice-to-have: direct experience with HAPS platforms, ProtoCompiler, or similar FPGA prototyping tools.
Education Requirements
