Role Summary

Senior EDA Applications Engineer responsible for bringing hands-on GaN/GaAs RF power amplifier (PA) and RF front-end module (FEM) design expertise into EDA flows and methodology. The role combines direct PA/RF design support with ownership of EDA methodology, tool qualification, and designer enablement across RF, analog, AMS, and digital teams.

Position is based in-office in Richardson, TX or Apopka, FL. This role requires eligibility to access ITAR/EAR technologies (US Person or able to obtain export authorizations).

Experience Level

Senior / Professional level. Typical experience: 5+ years of hands-on GaN and/or GaAs RF PA or FEM design, or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and day-to-day applications support to RF and mixed-signal design teams and maintain EDA methodology for RF/PA development.

• Support design and validation of high-efficiency, high-linearity GaN and/or GaAs PAs and RF FEMs for 5G NR/6G.
• Lead or support integration of PA dies into multi-chip modules, optimizing for size, cost, and thermal performance.
• Provide applications support across industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso/Spectre, Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS, Synopsys tools, AWR).
• Develop, qualify, and deploy RF/PA design flows spanning circuit-level and 3D electromagnetic simulation; ensure correlation between models and silicon.
• Evaluate and benchmark new EDA capabilities; influence tool roadmaps and pilot vendor solutions.
• Create reference design flows, PDK enablement, reusable automation, and documented best practices.
• Deliver hands-on training, documentation, and mentoring; present methodology and results to stakeholders.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience required for the role. Degree requirements are summarized separately below.

• Proven hands-on experience designing PAs/FEMs with GaN and/or GaAs technologies (HBT, HEMT, or similar).
• Strong understanding of RF fundamentals: S-parameters, impedance matching, stability, and linearity.
• Extensive practical experience with ADS, Ansys HFSS, and Cadence tools for RF circuit and EM design.
• Experience with RF measurement and characterization; ability to correlate simulation to measured silicon.
• Ability to translate hands-on design experience into scalable methodology, flows, and best practices.
• Excellent technical communication and presentation skills; capable of independent work in a fast-paced environment.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BS/BE) with 5+ years of industry experience in hands-on GaN and/or GaAs RF PA design, or a Master's/advanced degree with equivalent practical experience. Equivalent practical experience will be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
