Job Title

Senior Application Engineer — Analog/Mixed-Signal

Role Summary

Customer-facing pre-sales engineering role supporting semiconductor customers in analog and mixed-signal design. Partner with sales, marketing, and product teams to demonstrate solutions, manage evaluations, and drive adoption of MATLAB and Simulink for analog/mixed-signal workflows.

Hybrid role based in the Santa Clara office with regular customer engagement across North America.

Experience Level

Senior — typical 6+ years of relevant industry experience (alternatively a master’s with ~3 years, a PhD, or equivalent practical experience as noted in qualifications).

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership in pre-sales activities and customer engagements for analog/mixed-signal solutions.

  • Deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and application examples to customers and at public events.
  • Manage product evaluations and develop customer adoption plans.
  • Advise sales and marketing on semiconductor industry requirements and help shape account/territory strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing to build awareness and with product teams to provide customer-driven feedback.
  • Identify new industry trends and application areas; develop compelling demos and messages with the worldwide team.
  • Advocate for product direction based on customer interactions and technical findings.
  • Establish credibility across customer organizations and cultivate champion users of MathWorks solutions.
  • Travel to customer sites and events as needed (up to ~30%).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; followed by relevant additions.

  • Strong experience with top-down (system-level) design of PLLs, DACs, ADCs, SERDES, or other analog/mixed-signal systems.
  • Experience with EDA tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, or Mentor Graphics.
  • Good understanding of semiconductor product development lifecycles and design flows.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong motivation to work directly with customers.
  • Nice-to-have: experience using MATLAB and/or Simulink.
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with hardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog, Verilog-AMS, SystemVerilog).
  • Nice-to-have: prior customer-facing or pre-sales engineering experience.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree plus ~6 years of professional experience, or a Master’s degree plus ~3 years, or a PhD, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred guidance in additional qualifications noted a Master’s in engineering with ~5–12 years of relevant experience.
