Job Title
Senior Application Engineer
Role Summary
Technical customer-facing engineer on the Application Engineering team for Synopsys hardware-assisted verification platforms (emulation and prototyping). You will support customer deployments, debug SoC verification issues, and collaborate with R&D and sales to enable successful verification and bring-up on real designs.
Experience Level
Senior. The posting requests approximately 3β5 years of ASIC/SoC design and verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on deploying, debugging, and documenting hardware-assisted verification solutions for customers.
- Support customer deployments of emulation and prototyping platforms: compile RTL, bring up testbenches, and debug SoC-level verification issues.
- Build and troubleshoot emulation testbenches, including protocol transactors, memory models, C++ transactors, and automation scripts.
- Reproduce and isolate customer-reported issues; coordinate with senior engineers and R&D to drive resolutions.
- Perform technical evaluations and demonstrations of product functionality and performance on customer designs.
- Respond to customer technical questions and provide clear troubleshooting guidance.
- Document common issues, workarounds, and best practices to improve internal knowledge and reduce time-to-resolution.
- Collaborate with local application engineering and sales teams to support account engagement and technical discussions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to succeed in the role.
- 3β5 years experience in ASIC or SoC design and verification.
- Proficient in SystemVerilog and comfortable using C or C++ for testbench development.
- Experience working in Unix/Linux environments and using scripting languages such as Python, Tcl, or Perl.
- Strong RTL and software-layer debugging skills; able to isolate issues in multi-component systems.
- Clear technical communication skills in English for interacting with customers and internal teams.
- Ability to reproduce customer issues, work methodically through debug, and provide actionable context to other engineers.
- Willingness to learn new protocols, tools, and platform features as needed in customer engagements.
- Nice-to-have: prior experience with hardware emulators or prototyping platforms.
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with SoC protocols such as Ethernet, PCIe, AMBA, UART, or DDR.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is specified by the posting. (The posting pairs this degree requirement with 3β5 years of relevant ASIC/SoC design and verification experience.)
