Role Summary

Qorvo's EDA Applications Engineering team seeks a hands-on senior analog/RF IC designer to improve design methodologies, PDKs, and EDA flows. The role combines transistor-level design, silicon characterization, and methodology development to support RF, analog, mixed-signal, and digital design teams.

This hybrid position is based in Barcelona and involves design, tool qualification, vendor collaboration, and mentoring designers.

Experience Level

Senior - 5+ years of transistor-level analog IC design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include hands-on circuit design and EDA/methodology support.

• Design, simulate, and characterize analog and mixed-signal blocks (amplifiers, comparators, voltage references/bias, oscillators, ADC/DACs, power management, mixed-signal control).
• Own circuits end-to-end: circuit design, layout oversight, tape-out support, silicon bring-up and debug.
• Provide day-to-day applications support for Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, and related EDA tools.
• Develop, qualify, and deploy design methodologies, reference flows, PDK enablement, and reusable automation.
• Evaluate and qualify EDA tools; collaborate with vendors to resolve technical issues and influence roadmaps.
• Deliver training, documentation, and mentoring to raise designer proficiency and first-pass silicon success.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

• 5+ years transistor-level analog IC design experience.
• Design experience with amplifiers, comparators, voltage references/bias circuits, oscillators, ADCs/DACs, or mixed-signal subsystems.
• Expert knowledge of Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, and standard analog verification/characterization tools.
• Strong fundamentals in device physics, noise analysis, stability/compensation, and matching/PVT variation analysis.
• Hands-on silicon characterization and debug experience.
• Experience or strong interest in providing applications support and defining design methodology.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Eligibility to work in Spain.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with RF transceiver and front-end design and system-level trade-offs.
• End-to-end analog/RFIC development and productization experience.
• Experience with AMS verification and digital verification tools (e.g., Xcelium, HSPICE/PrimeSim, VCS, Keysight ADS, AWR).
• Experience defining enterprise EDA flows or collaborating with EDA vendors on roadmaps.
• Knowledge of EM, package, thermal, or multi-physics simulation; familiarity with MATLAB, Python, JMP, or Spotfire.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
