Senior Analog SoC Architect
Nordic SemiconductorJob Title
Senior Analog SoC Architect
Role Summary
Define the analog and mixed-signal architecture for next-generation microcontroller and wireless SoCs. Own system-level analog decisions, translate product requirements into verified architectures and specifications, and drive technical direction across analog, digital, verification, layout and product teams.
This role combines deep hands-on analog expertise with cross-team leadership to deliver robust, low-power production silicon.
Experience Level
Senior. The role expects substantial, hands-on analog/mixed-signal IC experience and responsibility for architecture and delivery of production SoC or IP projects. Specific years of experience not stated.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include architecture, specification, verification and cross-team technical leadership.
- Define analog and mixed-signal SoC architectures balancing performance, power, area and robustness.
- Translate product and system requirements into block-level specifications, budgets and verified architectures.
- Evaluate trade-offs and technology options; lead feasibility studies and early prototyping.
- Guide design teams through schematics, simulation, design reviews, layout and post-layout checks; perform transistor-level review when needed.
- Define top-level analog and mixed-signal simulation and verification strategies across the design cycle.
- Own analog IP integration at chip level and interfaces to digital, power-management and RF blocks.
- Work with layout, test and product engineering on floorplanning, parasitic-aware trade-offs, silicon bring-up and characterization.
- Mentor engineers, improve design methodologies and promote reuse strategies and engineering practices.
- Document architectural decisions, assumptions, results and risks for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, hands-on experience and personal capabilities.
- Extensive hands-on experience with analog and mixed-signal IC design and multiple complete SoC or IP projects delivered to production.
- Proven track record defining architectures and specifications for complex analog subsystems (data converters, PLLs/clocking, power management, RF/analog front-ends).
- Strong understanding of CMOS devices and analog fundamentals (feedback, noise, mismatch, stability, PVT effects).
- Extensive pre- and post-layout simulation and verification experience and a system-level verification perspective.
- Experience with silicon bring-up, debug and root-cause analysis.
- Ability to influence technical decisions across teams and mentor senior engineers; strong verbal and written communication in English.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with low-power wireless SoCs and integration with RF and power-management domains.
- Experience leading multi-team projects and defining reuse strategies for analog IP.
- Experience with advanced mixed-signal verification frameworks and parasitic-aware floorplanning.
Education Requirements
Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics or a closely related field (explicitly listed). No other degrees or equivalent-experience language specified in the posting.
